Madina Munawwara holds a unique and sacred place in Islamic history. The migration (Hijrah) of the Prophet Muhammad \ufdfa to this blessed city marked a turning point in the Divine Mission. It was in Madina that Islam began to prosper openly, gain new followers, and establish the foundations of a complete spiritual, social, and political system.<\/p>

The Prophet \ufdfa was 53 years old<\/strong> when he migrated from Makkah to Madina. He spent the remaining ten years<\/strong> of his life in this luminous city\u2014years filled with revelation, transformation, and the establishment of an Islamic civilization that would reach every corner of the world.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Prophet\u2019s arrival in Madina was followed by the building of the first mosque in Islamic history<\/strong>\u2014Masjid an-Nabawi. For Muslims who had endured years of persecution in Makkah, this mosque became:<\/p>

  • A place of prayer<\/p><\/li>

  • A school for the Qur\u2019an<\/p><\/li>

  • A community center<\/p><\/li>

  • A court of justice<\/p><\/li>

  • A government headquarters<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

    The Prophet \ufdfa himself participated in its construction, alongside the Muhajireen (immigrants) and the Ansar (helpers). Initially built from clay, tree trunks, and palm leaves, the mosque served as the heart of the new Islamic State.<\/p>

    Today, Masjid an-Nabawi stands as one of the holiest sites in the world and houses the blessed tomb of the Prophet Muhammad \ufdfa.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    One of the most remarkable achievements in Madina was the institution of brotherhood<\/strong>. The Prophet \ufdfa paired each Muhajir (immigrant from Makkah) with an Ansari (resident of Madina), creating bonds of faith stronger than blood ties.<\/p>

    The Qur\u2019an describes them with honor:<\/p>

    \u201cAllah is pleased with the first and foremost of the Muhajireen and Ansar\u2026\u201d<\/strong> (Qur\u2019an 9:100)<\/p>

    The Ansar shared:<\/p>

    • Their homes<\/p><\/li>

    • Their wealth<\/p><\/li>

    • Their food<\/p><\/li>

    • Even offering their daughters in marriage<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

      After the Hijrah, the Prophet \ufdfa founded the first Islamic government<\/strong> in Madina. Guided by the Qur\u2019an and his divinely inspired Sunnah, he shaped a society based on:<\/p>

      • Mercy<\/p><\/li>

      • Rights and responsibilities<\/p><\/li>

      • Freedom from oppression<\/p><\/li>

        When Islam finally had a state, the Quraysh escalated their aggression. The Muslims were forced to defend themselves, leading to several key battles.<\/p>

        The Battle of Badr<\/strong>, in the 2nd year of Hijrah, was the first decisive Muslim victory\u2014where 313 Muslims defeated a much larger Makkan army.<\/p>

        These battles:<\/p>

        • Strengthened the Muslim community<\/p><\/li>

        • Weakened the Quraysh<\/p><\/li>

        • Allowed Islam to spread across Arabia<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

          Jihad in this period was purely defensive, resisting oppression and protecting the new Islamic State.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

          A number of Jewish tribes in Madina violated treaties and conspired against the Prophet \ufdfa. Despite his fairness and kindness towards them, their increasing hostility and alliances with the Quraysh forced defensive action.<\/p>

          The Battle of Khaybar<\/strong>, known for the bravery of Imam Ali (AS), ended their plots and secured Madina from internal threats.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

          In the 6th year of Hijrah, the Prophet \ufdfa sought to perform Umrah with 1,500 companions. The Quraysh blocked entry and negotiations led to the Treaty of Hudaibiyah<\/strong>.<\/p>

          Though initially seen as a compromise, the treaty became a major victory:<\/p>

          • It allowed Muslims to perform Umrah the following year<\/p><\/li>

          • It established peace<\/p><\/li>

          • It led to mass conversions<\/p><\/li>

          • It paved the way for the conquest of Makkah<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

            The treaty fulfilled the Prophet\u2019s \ufdfa dream of entering the Kaaba.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

            In the 8th year of Hijrah, the Quraysh broke the treaty. The Prophet \ufdfa marched to Makkah with a powerful yet peaceful army. Allah placed awe in the hearts of the Quraysh, who surrendered without resistance.<\/p>

            This historic moment:<\/p>

            • Cleansed the Kaaba of idols<\/p><\/li>

            • Ended centuries of polytheism<\/p><\/li>

            • United Arabia under Islam<\/p><\/li>

            • Demonstrated the Prophet\u2019s mercy\u2014he forgave his former enemies<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

              This was one of the greatest victories in Islamic history.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

              With Islam now firmly established, the Prophet \ufdfa sent letters to world leaders:<\/p>

              • The Emperor of Persia<\/p><\/li>

              • The Emperor of Rome<\/p><\/li>

              • The King of Abyssinia<\/p><\/li>

              • Regional rulers<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

                Some accepted the message, others responded diplomatically, and some rejected it with arrogance\u2014such as Chosroes of Persia, who tore the Prophet\u2019s \ufdfa letter.<\/p>

                This marked Islam\u2019s introduction to the world stage.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

                The Christians of Najran visited Madina to debate the Prophet \ufdfa regarding the nature of Prophet Isa (AS). After presenting clear arguments, they still rejected the truth. Allah commanded the Prophet \ufdfa to challenge them to Mubahala<\/strong>\u2014invoking Allah\u2019s curse on the liars.<\/p>

                The Prophet \ufdfa arrived with:<\/p>

                • Imam Ali (AS)<\/p><\/li>

                • Lady Fatimah (AS)<\/p><\/li>

                • Imam Hasan (AS)<\/p><\/li>

                • Imam Husayn (AS)<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

                  The Christians, awed by their purity, withdrew and accepted peaceful terms.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

                  In the 10th year of Hijrah, the Prophet \ufdfa performed his only Hajj. During this pilgrimage he delivered the Farewell Sermon<\/strong>, which included the famous Hadith of Thaqalayn<\/strong>:<\/p>

                  \u201cI leave behind two precious things: the Book of Allah and my Ahlul-Bayt\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p>

                  This sermon abolished Jahili practices and reaffirmed Islamic laws and ethics for all generations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

                  On the return from Hajj, at a place called Ghadir Khum, Allah revealed:<\/p>

                  \u201cO Prophet, proclaim what has been revealed to you\u2026\u201d (Qur\u2019an 5:67)<\/strong><\/p>

                  The Prophet \ufdfa gathered the Muslims and declared:<\/p>

                  \u201cFor whomever I am his master (Maula), Ali is his master.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>

                  This historic announcement affirmed Imam Ali\u2019s leadership for the Ummah. The verse \u201cToday I have perfected your religion\u2026\u201d (Qur\u2019an 5:3)<\/strong> was revealed immediately afterward.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

                  Two months later, the Prophet \ufdfa fell ill. After leading his final prayer, he returned home, gave his last instructions, and passed away on the 28th of Safar.<\/p>

                  He was buried inside Masjid an-Nabawi. His resting place remains the most visited and beloved site for Muslims worldwide.<\/p>

                  Islam was now complete:<\/p>

                  • The Qur\u2019an preserved<\/p><\/li>

                  • The Sunnah established<\/p><\/li>

                  • The Ahlul-Bayt entrusted with leadership<\/p><\/li>
